THE GUYANA ARTS & CULTURAL CENTER
The Guyana Arts & Cultural Center is a multidisciplinary folk art museum, media center and performance space designed to support artists and provide space to document, collect, preserve and interpret the creative works of Guyanese artists from around the world.
It is an important community space committed to creating an environment that inspires creativity, encourages learning, and fosters cultural understanding.
THE GACC SCHOOL OF MUSIC:
Will provide a high quality, flexible and affordable music education program for all young people interested in music: piano, tabla, sitar, African drums, flute, steelpan, violin, saxophone and other instruments and chorus.
Students will have the opportunity to play with and learn from the best musicians in the diaspora. This is also an opportunity to pass on our musical traditions to a younger generation.
THE GACC SCHOOL OF ART:
for young artists who want to make art, build their artistic skills and explore new art forms and mediums.
Youth of the community will be encourage to nurture their talents. Instructors will guide young artists through learning techniques for different artistic mediums including drawing, painting, and sculpture.
These GACC art classes and workshops will be taught by experienced educators who are also professional artists.
THE GACC SCHOOL OF DANCE:
The GCA Dance Workshops will provides students of all ages the opportunity to experience dance in a context that values the creative process.
With professional dance instructors, member will explore creative expression through movement, by learning different dance techniques.
The Workshop will also offer an adult program.
THE GACC GRAPHIC DESIGN SCHOOL :
The Graphic Design School will provide students opportunity to learn professional design programs, including Adobe Photoshop. Through a series of small design projects, members will learn basic design and layout concepts and advanced editing techniques using graphic design software.
THE GACC SCHOOL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS :
The Drama program will encourage students to explore their performance and acting skills through a variety of theater and drama related activities.
Students will have opportunities to learn acting exercises and techniques as well as the technical aspects to executing a play or production.
THE GACC SCHOOL OF VIDEO, FILM & PHOTOGRAPHY:
Bring our oral story to life: This workshop can be integrated into an ongoing project to document our oral history.
Writers, producers, directors, camera operators, lighting technicians, and others are modern storytellers with a knack for putting that technology to work, taking projects from concept to captured images. Video editors and digital video effects designers are among the specialists who then add their talents and imaginations to help bring our story to life.
Learn to Tell Your Own Stories:
In Video and Film Production programs, students will receive hands-on training to learn how to operate industry-grade digital media, lighting, camera equipment, and editing. They’ll have the opportunity to collaborate on projects to gain experience working as part of an artistic team.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
The Photography program will progressively build students’ photography skills from basic photo composition and camera operation to independent film development and printing. Students will have access to digital and film cameras, and will gain experience in advanced photography techniques through independent and group projects.
